Barnsley Archives celebrate 30 years of success

Thursday, 6 April is the 30th anniversary of Barnsley Archives, which first opened its doors in 1987. The service has gone from strength to strength over the years with visitor figures increasing from 279 in the first year to a whopping 25,000 in 2016.

Budding Barnsley poets crowned competition champions

Six budding Barnsley poets have fought off hundreds of entries to be named winners of a borough-wide competition. The Hear My Voice poetry contest was launched by Barnsley Museums in June last year as part of the Hear My Voice programme, designed to encourage people to express themselves through poetry and the written and spoken word.
