BE PART OF BARNSLEY’S SOUND AND VISION

As part of ‘The Joy of Sound and Vision’ project, Barnsley Archives are looking for any footage relating to the borough that people may have tucked away. People who would like to get involved can call into the Learning Lab in Experience Barnsley, based in the town hall, between 10am and 4pm on Wednesday, 5 October. Here they can bring in any films and tapes they think maybe of interest. Footage could be in a variety of formats including cine, VHS or cassette tapes.

Celebrate pear day at Cannon Hall Museum, Park and Gardens

Visitors are invited to Cannon Hall on Sunday, 18 September to celebrate Pear Day. The Hall hosts the spectacular free event each year to commemorate the harvest of the historic pears. It takes place in the stunning surroundings of the Walled Kitchen Garden, where the fruit is grown.

Poems in the Pub

A series of poetry workshops will be taking place at the Arcade Alehouse to celebrate Barnsley’s, Hear My Voice Project. The project encourages the people of the borough to dig deep into their imaginations and express themselves through poetry, written and spoken word.

Elsecar

Elsecar by the sea sails into historic village

Visitors to Elsecar are in for a treat when Elsecar by the Sea, the village’s annual family event, arrives on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 September. The fun filled family weekend brings with it a taste of the seaside. There will be lots to see and do including a community gala in the award winning Elsecar park, beer festival in Milton Hall, craft fair in The Ironworks and steam trains plus much more.
