People are invited to celebrate Barnsley History Day at the town hall on Sunday, 20 March. There will be lots to see and do at the free event, which remembers the borough’s proud and exciting past. It also showcases how people can get involved in local heritage.

The Cooper Gallery and its Board of Trustees have announced the launch date of the new gallery which has been transformed thanks to National Lottery players and other supporters. Historic scroll comes to Barnsley

A precious document relating to the life of Barnsley engineer Joseph Locke has been acquired at auction in Edinburgh and donated to Barnsley Archives and Local Studies. The money which was used to purchase the important artefact was raised by the Friends of Barnsley Archives through their tireless fundraising.
