Prepare to be scared at Worsbrough Mill this Halloween

Following reports of supernatural sightings, the Pan Paranormal Investigation team will be leading Ghost Walks around Worsbrough Mill on Saturday, 31 October. Beginning at 6pm, the team will take those brave enough to take part on an investigation around one of Barnsley’s most haunted historic sites.

The Big Draw Doodle Day at Experience Barnsley

Artists will be taking over the galleries at Experience Barnsley for The Big Draw Doodle Day and visitors are invited to come along and join in the fun. On Saturday 17 October, the gallery floor will be filled with paper ready for a mass doodling session. Families can get creative and take part in drawing games and for budding cartoonists there will be a giant cartoon strip to complete, inspired by the current Gerald Scarfe exhibition: Milk Snatcher, The Thatcher Drawings.

Pieces of local history presented to the people of Barnsley for safe-keeping

Two pieces of local history are being loaned to the award winning museum Experience Barnsley by the Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce. The artefacts that are kindly being lent are the Barnsley Chamber of Commerce Presidential Medal from 1882 and the plaque from the original Chambers building, which is now the police station on Westgate.

New website explores the Barnsley Co-operative across the borough thanks to dedicated volunteers

A new website has been launched to explore the history of the Barnsley Co-operative thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Visitors to the website can find out about the Co-op shops in their area, discover when they first opened, who managed the shops, see the building plans and read about the shops history, all thanks to a handful of dedicated volunteers.
