Barnsley has featured in 2 national art projects as part of the Somme Commemorations.
After the event was over, a number of First World War soldiers appeared in the Town Centre and went past the Town Hall. They were part of #wearehere – a national project created by Jeremy Deller. Barnsley is also privileged to have a miniature sculpture of a soldier clutching a poppy on the Town Hall War Memorial.
