Welcome to the Barnsley Museums Festival of Archaeology: Online

In 2021 the Council for British Archaeology’s annual ‘Festival of Archaeology’ is over a fortnight, which gives us double the opportunity to share more highlights from our archaelogical collections. This year we are teaming up with the Portable Antiquities Scheme as we 'dig up' an eclectic mix of objects that have been discovered over the years.

Follow Barnsley Museums on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for daily updates. We also have lots of other activities too:

Mini game: Trowel & Error - Barnsley Museums’ poet laureate Eloise Unerman with help from the Barnsley and Rotherham Young Archaeologists Club have created a decisions and consequences format Twine game.

Free Online Talk: Wednesday 28 July, 12:30pm

Stories of Eldon Street - An illustrated virtual walk and talk: Disover more about the important Barnsley high street and learn more about some of the stories that have been uncovered as part of the Eldon Street High Street Heritage Action Zone. You can watch the free talk on the Experience Barnsley Facebook page or via the Youtube link below. The video will be available on demand after the event.
