As part of our Summer of Play, meet the team from Barnsley Libraries and enjoy a range of creative activities at Stainborough Castle.

Hold a shell to your ear, listen and you will hear the sea. What if you could wander into that shell - what worlds, adventures, stories and wonder lie within?

The Story Shell is a unique art space created by international artists Suzie Devey and Steve Messam, commissioned by Barnsley Libraries through its National Portfolio Organisation programme and funded by Arts Council England.

The Story Shell aims to provide a unique, immersive storytelling experience. Its interior features a design of 7 story continents, each filled with mythical characters, which invite you to be inspired by space and unlock creativity.

This event is free, but normal admission charges apply for the venue.

Suitable for all ages, yes, grown-ups can play too!
