Have your say on Historic Barnsley Streets
People are invited to come along to two important consultation events where they can have their say on the future of some of Barnsley’s historic town centre streets.
The consultation will focus on Regent Street, Church Street, Eldon Street and Market Hill.
The events aim to find out what people think of the areas now, what makes them special, what needs to be protected, and what can be improved as part of this process.
It’s taking place for a new conservation appraisal and management plan which has been commissioned by Barnsley Council and will set the priorities for the areas for the future.
The events are taking place on the following dates and times.
Experience Barnsley Museum, Tuesday, 12 September, 12noon until 3.30pm.
The Cooper Gallery Saturday, 16 September, 12 noon until 3.30pm.
The event is open to the public and people are invited to drop in at any time.
Cllr Robert Frost, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: “There are streets in Barnsley Town Centre are of huge historical importance, and these consultation events are vital in getting people’s thoughts of how they are preserved and protected. We want to find out what people value most whether that be green space, architecture, or even public art so it can shape the area for generations to come.”
