New exhibition invites visitors to see Cannon Hall through the eyes of artists

Visitors to Cannon Hall can enjoy a new exhibition this autumn that celebrates the halls, gardens and hidden stories of one of Barnsley’s most loved heritage sites.

Leeds Fine Artists x Cannon Hall will run from Saturday 26 September to Saturday 14 November, bringing together original artwork inspired by the people, places and objects found at Cannon Hall.

The collection features work by 14 exhibitors from Leeds Fine Artists (LFA), one of Yorkshire’s oldest and most respected art societies. Founded in 1874, LFA has supported artists for more than 150 years.

Artists spent time exploring Cannon Hall's gardens, collections and history before creating new artwork for the collection.

Among the creators featured is Ruth Miemczyk, whose work explores the story of Polish soldiers who found a home at Cannon Hall after the Second World War.

Visitors will find pieces displayed throughout the hall and exhibition spaces inspired by all corners of Cannon Hall.

Fine art pieces will celebrate elements such as the vibrant gardens, coloured glassware and the grounds.

The hall, grounds and gardens are beautiful at this time of year, with seasonal colours providing a stunning backdrop for a day out. I would encourage residents and visitors alike to make the most of this free exhibition and everything Cannon Hall has to offer."

The exhibition offers visitors a new way to explore one of Barnsley's most treasured heritage sites.
