World Music Day

This year World Music Day coincides with the annual Barnsley Live Festival. Between watching bands at the multi-venue event visit our Learning Lab at Experience Barnsley Museum to see a selection of music videos created by Barnsley Museums over the years alongside some other recognisable Barnsley musicians.

Our ‘headline act’ will be the Feels Like Home choir with their new song ‘Wildflower’  Established in 2018, Feels Like Home are a community group for people new to Barnsley where English isn’t their first language.

The videos will play on a 45 minute loop throughout the day and features songs from our ‘Up The Swanee’ project and ‘An Unnatural History’ by Simon Armitage’s band LYR who wrote an album of songs inspired by Eldon Street.

A diverse group of women stands in a garden, singing together while facing a conductor. Most wear colorful, floral, or pink outfits, and greenery surrounds them. A music folder is on the grass in front of the group.
